Nutrition Tracking Technology

Hey All,

I have been researching a few things out there on the topic of nutrition tracking. I have started to track my intake and recently started counting macros, calories etc.

To be honest, the process is kinda painful, but highly effective. So I started to do some research and wanted to get your take on a couple things.

In terms of apps I think MyFitness Pal is the main one out there, pair that with a scale and it should do the trick, but I found something interesting thats a little more mobile that I could take on the go.

I don't think its available just yet but it looks promising. Anyone seen or heard of this so called "smart" scale before?

Definitely a cool concept. That would be pretty awesome if it could be integrated with MyFitnessPal. Personally I use just a basic food scale from target and use the MFP database to then input what the scale reads. I agree if price isn't a factor it would be a pretty neat tool to have!

What about Google's app that supposedly can calculate calories with about 80% accuracy if you take a picture from your phone. It is no where near usable or perfect on a lot of levels, but it is the future.

I weigh my food to the gram in order to have proper accuracy, Google claims 80% but my cousin tried it then weighed her food and it was stupid how off it was. Cool idea but it will never be able to tell the actual weight of a food so it will never be accurate enough for someone who is serious about nutrition.

Obviously, tracking macros is necessary for some, however for the general public who seriously need some form of calorie consciousness to aid in the reduction of overweight people, it might be promising.

The general population that is overweight is also lazy and would only use the app for 3 days max then say it's not making them skinny and stop. Sorry but there is dedicated dieting and tracking macros, then there are those who just try and eat healthy and then the majority who hate themselves but still enter that drive thru every day. Sad but the truth.
