Hopefully the title catches more people attention

Male, 35 Natty

Been lifting consistently since 2012. Current stats:
• Height: 5’11” (6ft on paper)
• Weight: 224 lbs (cutting down from 250)
• PRs: 500 deadlift, 300 bench, 360 squat

I also train BJJ, so strength work hasn’t always been my main push the past few years. Still, I’ve stayed fairly consistent despite the usual setbacks (injuries, kids, life). I built out a solid home gym and make it a priority.

I’ve run multiple successful cuts/bulks over the years, lowest I’ve ever gotten was 165 lbs (from 195), and I’ve also bulked effectively when needed. Right now I’m working on leaning down again after climbing up to 250.

I’m here mainly to learn and soak up knowledge. I’ve always been interested in this side of things and done my own research, but I’m at the point where I want deeper info and perspectives.

Were you dehydrated at your blood draw?

• Bilirubin, Total: 1.9 mg/dL (high)

Why do you think this was high?

Fix your cholesterol man. Make that a priority.

You did pretty good on getting your bloodwork done. There are a few other tests you might want to consider for next time, especially if you are considering starting anaoblics. You can find a lot of info in the serum blood testing topic.

Yeah, the draw was first thing in the morning, fasted, dehydrated, and I had just trained upper body in the morning prior. That probably pushed both hematocrit (50.7) and bilirubin (1.9) up a bit.

The TRT doc (this was an initial visit, and just wanted cheap bloodwork) mentioned the elevated bilirubin could just be Gilbert’s syndrome, which he said is pretty common and benign, especially when the rest of the liver panel (AST/ALT/Alk Phos) looks fine(?). My plan is to retest on a rest day and hydrated.

Yeah, cholesterol is something I’m working on cleaning up during this cut.

The mat never lies, it’s one of the best things I have gotten into in my life.
Nothing compares. I was telling this nurse that I am going back as soon as I am healed. She apparently has a coworker that had his eye pop out during training. As she was telling me the story, I stopped her and said I bet he still trains too. She busted out laughing and said he does. Most people will never understand.
