Nootropics for getting pumped before a workout

I've struggle with some manageable fatigue that seems to make me a little more sluggish than I should be during workouts. I've tried to compensate in different ways. I've tried not being a bitch and that has been fine, but recently I've been adding nootropics to the mix. Nootropics like dietary supplements that give you a little motivational boost.

Was wondering if anyone else has experience with this + what your recommendations would be.

So far, I've tried
  • Caffeine
  • Adrafinil
  • Phenylpiracetam
Any other ideas out there? I get adrafinil and phenyP from BlueBrainBoost - Nootropics and more!, but I'm hoping to source some modafinil as I hear that modafinil >> adrafinil and phenylP actually makes me more tired if I take too much. Not sure where to get something like modafinil though.

I've also seen improvemnet with antidepressants like buproprion, which makes me wonder what other prescription drugs out there could have a nice anti-fatigue effect. The cause of this cellular type fatigue is an autoimmune disease.

Try tyrosine?
I also take wellbutrin, stuff definitely makes me more productive.

I actually am prescribed this by a doctor, not for wor out enhancement, but it actually is very much needed to curve my attitude into something more socially acceptable.

If you are having that much trouble making yourself go to the gym to where you need prescription pharma grade nootropics or dopamine agonists, I would say you are in it for the wrong reasons bud.
Take a week off and get your mind straight. Relying on drugs for simple things is a slippery slope, and 95% of the time they aren't going to achieve your desired magical transformation.

Also sex. If I ever need to feel alpha, I slay poon.

I think you're probably right, it's not a sustainable long-term solution. Definitely need to get my head in the right place. I have multiple sclerosis which makes me fatigued but it's honestly not that bad that I can't just power thru.

Diet too. You gotta play around with things until you find what works best for you. The lower your carb intake the higher your dopamine levels too.
Best of luck

You might try looking at the problem from two different perspectives: one is increasing energy; and the other is minimizing fatigue. It sounds like they are one and the same endeavor, and they might be sometimes, but there are ways you can address fatigue without blasting yourself full of stimulants.

For example, herbs and spices won't give you the amped-up jitters that caffeine will, but they'll combat fatigue just fine in my experience. I use raw ginger, whether in cloves or prepared as a tea. I also use peppers, like crushed red pepper or cayenne powder. They won't raise your short term energy like caffeine will, but I think you'll find that a pinch of red pepper with some ginger tea will wake you right up.

In fact, some varieties of weight loss pills contain (as per the label anyway) cayenne pepper and ginger among other herbs. Thermadrene comes to mind.

I didn't know about that carbo-dopamine connection. It makes sense tho. Too much carbo will screw with your insulin resistance which isn't great for your brain.

I agree with @Leancuisine. You don't want to have to rely on drugs to get you motivated and get you focused. Obviously we aren't robots that can just keep going and there will be days that you need a little extra boost. For those days I would look into a baseline pre workout that has nootropics in them. I believe Dust v2 from Blackstone Labs has Noopept in it if you were looking for a nootropic and boost. For a long term solution, I would sit down and evaluate you goals. Understand what you want to achieve and make a realistic action plan to get there. Evaluate your diet and training and see if there are adjustments you can make. Trial and error is the name of the game, so don't get discouraged! Whenever you get tired or feel like quitting, think about your goals and how you want to achieve them. I've notice that has worked tremendously for me. As silly as this sounds, I would create a playlist for the gym that gets you hyped. I've been astonished by how far a good song can push me in the gym. If you have any questions, Meso is here for you brother. Good luck!:)
