New Guy Check In

Figured I would go ahead and introduce myself. I've been lurking for several months and joined recently. I gotta say, this board is better than any of the others I visit. Come here every day and learn something new pretty much every time.

About me (kinda long):
40 years old, not new to lifting but no experience with AAS other than TRT, which I started about 6 months ago. Won't see me giving advise on AAS. I'm here to learn for now.

I've trained off/on for about 20 years. Probably about 10 years total training if you consider the times I got lazy and didn't train. Most of my training has been focused on powerlifting but only attempted to compete for a couple years in my early twenties. I occasionally run hypertrophy phases and most accessory work is hypertrophy. Wanna be strong and look strong but not really either one right now.

From the age of 30 to 38 I got real lazy, real fat, and fell into the trap of doing nothing but work, family, and a little too much booze. Two years ago I decided enough is enough and shut that shit down. Hit a keto diet, started training again and went from 5'10" 310lbs to 165lbs. over a two year period. Went a little overboard the last 4 months focusing on strength and gaining muscle. Sitting at 190 right now with too much fat and my strength doesn't match my weight. Never been too concerned with fat as long as I was progressing my lifts but as I get older, things are changing.

Current goal is to finish out my strength phase in 3 weeks and then start another cut until down to 175-180. Once there, I am planning to get bloods and then start my first blast of 500 test cyp/ week if all looks good.

If I can get my numbers where I want them I am considering entering a meet next year just to give me something to work towards. Might do it, might not, haven't decided. Gotta get my body fixed up first. Rotator cuff is fucked and training around an inguinal hernia. Neither prevent me from training but it damn sure isn't optimal. Sucks getting old.

If you made it this far you must be bored cause I ain't that interesting.

As you have already mentioned get your body fixed before cycling, as AAS will NOT heal well established injuries.

In fact as available data suggests AAS have a deleterious effect on collagen repair, their use especially when combined with resistance training, are destined to worsen your underlying conditions which will diminish upper and lower body development.

Good point doc. Not jumping into anything nor looking for AAS to heal injuries. Thanks for the advice.

Welcome

If Powerlifting is your thing, check out the PL forum.

Those guys are busted up to all hell, but their lifts keep going up, the guys there know how to train around the injuries and keep safe.
