Missing a meal - how bad is it?

I have recently started a fat loss program and am really working hard at increasing my metabolism rate by weight training, cardio and eating 6 meals each day. During the week I have no issues at all in eating at a predetermined time: 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm. But when it comes to the weekend I get all messed up! For instance, I took the family to the park on Saturday afternoon and ended up staying into the evening for a firework show and so I didn't even get back home until almost 12am. I did manage to bum a little food off of a friend (that had actually planned to stay the whole day). But that was only one small, unclean meal for 10 hours.

So I guess my question is, how long does it take for your body to go into its starvation mode by missing meals? And how quickly can it recover from that?

It is recomended that you eat every 4 hours. You can simply bring a MRP if needed to fulfill the food requirment. If you do miss or have a cheat day once in a while no harm will be done at all.

Once in a while it's ok, just as long as it's not consistant. Or you may gain 11 lbs, one or the other:D

You'll survive. One shitty day won't kill you. However, if you're really serious, then you'll start packing food everytime you go somewhere. It's a major pain in the ass, but it has to be done.
