Minimum dose of HGH for sleep

Sorry in advance if this has been posted before - I did search.

Are there any studies showing the minimum effective dose of HGH to improve sleep quality?

I find HGH makes me feel better all round and it's hard to give up. However I do get sides like pitting edema in my shin.

Is there a way to run it just for sleep to avoid these sides? Currently taking 1IU nightly with my other peptides straight before sleep and it's doing wonders for my sleep quality and mood.

I feel chilled and relaxed during the day, refreshed when I wake up. My blood pressure is great and my RHR is fine.

seems like you may have found "the minimum effective dose of hgh" if you are getting those sleep benefits and quality mood ,,

The easiest way to drop water is stop dosing for a day or two.

How’s your water intake? I find personally that it’s required to drink a gallon of water a day on any amount of hgh for its true benefits to show. Maybe add an electrolyte powder too. Otherwise my skin starts to look crappier rather than better and my joints give me grief. I don’t hold much water but my friends who did resolved it with the above.

I would be hesitant to add another drug like diuretics to balance it out but I know some suggest that.

I'd say you found a good way but

However I do get sides like pitting edema in my shin.

you're getting that with 1 IU?

Doesn't seem right

I drink a lot of water. Most of the time I'm urinating white.

The issue is probably that I work long shifts on my feet all day wearing boots.

The shin edema tends to go away when I'm not working.

Yes you are correct it doesn't seem right at all. I've tried 2IU before sleep and woke up in the night with carpal tunnel like issues that resolved upon waking.

I have been talking to ChatGPT and came to this understanding:

A 1 IU subcutaneous (SC) dose of HGH typically produces peak blood levels around 3–4 ng/mL after 3–5 hours, while intramuscular (IM) injection reaches slightly higher peaks (~5–7 ng/mL) faster, within 1–2 hours. In contrast, natural growth hormone pulses during deep (slow-wave) sleep can peak at 30–50 ng/mL, meaning even low-dose HGH injections fall well below true physiological nighttime surges unless 2–3 IU IM is used.

I'm guessing my current endogenous production is quite good and the dose before bed is compounding leading to enough blood levels to push me into a deeper sleep.

your a lucky one benefit from hgh and sleep benefits, alot of people have sleep issues with hgh use , ,

I'm starting to lean towards tesamorelin as the best use case for me:
"Although many studies have supported the clinical effectiveness of rhGH, rhGH therapy has produced a variety of adverse side effects such as fluid retention, glucose intolerance, hypertension and potential tumorigenic effects [25]"

The paper that's cited says the tumour effects are not proven yet.

Tesamorelin and sleep:
"A second, Phase II, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-design, randomized, multi-center study assessed the effect of tesamorelin on sleep maintenance in 83 insomnia patients enrolled, aged 35 – 50 [39] . Patients were administered daily subcutaneous doses of tesamorelin (0.1 or 1.0 mg,) or placebo, at bedtime, for a period of 14 days. In patients receiving the 0.1 mg dose of tesamorelin, sleep efficiency improved by 5.7% when measured objectively by polysomnography and by 4% when measured subjectively by the Pittsburgh sleep diary. The same dose produced a marked enhancement of daytime vigilance, with a significant improvement in the mean reaction time recorded in the continuous performance task test, and in short-term memory as assessed by the digit span test [39] . Full results from this study have not been published."

Pretty amazing how 1 IU equals 5-7 but somehow 2-3ius goes all the way to 6-7x that.
Even more amazing how you are somehow combining natural production with exogenous production.
I’m learning new stuff everyday

This is probably why some people inject the GH when they wake up in the AM to pee. This way you are beyond the natural GH peak and max out your weekly plasma concentrations.

If you're just after solid sleep benefits try a 500mcg/200-300mcg Tesa/Ipamorelin blend. Dare i say this was more potent for sleep than HGH, No sides at all either.

I think I've answered my own question using this study:
Body composition and quality of life in adults with growth hormone deficiency; effects of low-dose growth hormone replacement.

The baseline dose was 0.45iu per day.

Increasing it to 0.8iu per day resulted in reduced fat mass and increased muscle mass and pushed igf1 levels to upper normal.

So the interesting thing is the actual replacement dose is much less than people recommend (1-2iu).

Another study indicates that injected HGH suppresses natural HGH, so doses below 0.45iu might be not worth it:
Exogenous 20K Growth Hormone (GH) Suppresses Endogenous 22K GH Secretion in Normal Men

So in my case it seems like a secretagogue would be better if I can't control side effects.
