meso bowhunters

damn that is a big rack. i couldn't imagine seeing that walking through the woods. I use a PSE jetflight express. Have had it for 15 years. Shot one pope and young whitetail. Draw weight 70-80. I think I am getting a new one this year. Mine has like 50% letoff. these new ones with 80-90 % are unreal. If i ever figure out this camera bullshit i will post. I got some type of photoshop or something but i dont know how to make it suck the pics off my camera

11 do you draw elk in the same way that you do deer by raking a couple antlers together?

No with elk I bugle that helps me locate them then when I'm in close I'll use a cow (elk) call works most of the time.

Big surprise. You can kinda of tell that he loves hisself. Who else shows footage of 100 yard shots during their concerts. He's just showing off, but he is good at it.

That's a big ass rack on that elk 11. Nice job. Elk is my favorite game meat. It tastes so damn yummy.

Mine too I've got 300lbs well not that much now in the freezer

high protein low fat

that is f'n sweet. Rattling works great on whitetails but didn't think it worked as well with elk. Have u had moose?? i heard it was awesome. I haven'ttried moose or elk

No I haven't but I've been told by some freinds its good.

forgot to say what bow I use, Oneida stealth set at 66lbs very quick little bow, but not real forgiving. I've had 3 shoulder surgerys so 66lbs is real smooth for me, I've been thinking of trying a Mathews.?

about the rattling. I bet it would work but I'd have to take a few MESO bro's with me to rattle the the fuckers.

I've got a Martin bow. I don't know if that company is even around anymore. I bought it for 40 bucks used about 15 years ago. I haven't gone bow hunting since I was 11 or 12. It's a piece of shit. It's only 50lb pull, so the arrow flight is a bit of an arc. I don't think I even could kill an animal with it.

I've always been a fan of recurves. These new bows they're coming up with don't even look like bows anymore. They look like some sci-fi movie come true.

martin still makes bows .. there a pretty good company. bows today are getting very hi-tec, and expensive, before lone they'll be shooting lasers out of these things. someday I'd like to get a long bow and give that a try. but imo what ever you use just make sure you can hit what your aiming at.

esco, if elk respond anywhere near as aggressive as whitetails rattling would be scary. I have had them come in on a full run looking to kick ass. Grizz, i agree. 90% is supposed to disqualify you from record consideration but hell everyone seems to use those new ones anyways. That is what is holding me back. Mine is 15 years old and nothing wrong with but way out of date compared to these new futuristic bows

when i lived in ky there were some and there may be a limited season in some parts. not sure though.

if i recall...they're transplanting elk into pennsylvania too. and i think NY. i live in NY so either would be nice.

i shoot a Hoyt ZR 200. 65lb pull, 75% letoff. i'm kind of new to to bow hunting...3 years...but i like it. however, i love the violence and noise of a good 45-70 with a 405gr bullet blasting out of a marlin lever gun. looking forward to taking a whitetail with that mother  !!

have a nice day

bump.....just trying to keep them together

they are also trying to bring them back to NC.there were a number released in the linville gorge.(thats in the NC mountians)people say that elk used to thrive all over the us until the settlers wipe them out,and im glad our wildlife officials are trying to make it happen again.i hope that one day that elk will once again inhabit NC and we have an open season.i dont know if i could get away for whitetails though!to me shooting an elk would be shooting a horse, but its got be heart pound when they come crashing out of the woods.ive never had a chance to try elk,but it would have to be a bow only hunt!

I looked at the HoytUSA site - some fantastic looking bows, whatsall the technology - the elliptical cam on the compounds etc? Also what is 75% let off? its 75% weight when pulled? I can only target shoot here but really would like to get into it

i will give a quick ex: than i have to get outta here. if your bow has a 80 pound draw weight, it means you are pulling back 80lbs of pressure more or less. Now if it has 75% letoff it means the cams will hold 75% of the weight for you so once u get the bow pulled back it will only feel like you are holding 20lbs. My bow is old and has 50% let off so i would have to hold 40lbs worth of pressure. It is important b/c a deer could be coming in and u get the chance to pull your bow back w/o being seen. Than if the deer stops and you don't have a shot u must hold it back. that 20 lbs is a huge difference in times like this. now they have 90%. pretty crazy.

the new tech. single cams etc. is for arrow speed and smooth shooting.
thick was right about the letoff it just allows you to hold your bow at full draw much easier. as you start to pull your string back about 3/4 of the way back it will get alot easier to pull and hold.

why can you only target shoot?if thats all your going to do with it,higher letoff the better.75% you can hold all day,90% is insane!another thing with less letoff the harder your bow will shoot.your looking at some bad ass bows in hoyt, they are kickin ass in all the top tournys now.theyve got people saying "matthews who?"also for target the longer the more stable "forgiving" the bow is.shorter is better siuted for hunting, but with practice can be just as accurate,it 90% shooter anyways.
also check out archery reseach they are a newcomer, but have some great bows.i do want you that this sport will become addictive, but its great to be an addict.
