Intra-workout supplements?

So I’ve been listening to some Open IFFB Pro’s podcasts, and they recommend using a intra workout supplement. I always thought they were a waste of money? Are they? If not, what ingredients do I need to look for when selecting a intra workout drink?

Water with a little bit of sodium would be the cheaper and most effective intraworkout imo, you can add other electrolytes like pottasium if you are
meticulous.

Fast carbs like dextrose only for long sessions imo, i´ve used it before during a 3hour workout but it doesn't really make a difference.

EAAs and BCAAs are also used for intra workout formulas, but it is more useless than dextrose, during the workout your muscles need energy not aminoacids.

Hyped out balogni. It's creating more work for your body to transport the nutrients during training ON TOP OF the meal prior to training. This is truly broscience bullshit that just needs to go away. Don't drink the koolaide, it's usually someone trying to sell you something because they're sponsored by a supplement company. It's a bunch of bullshit dude, save your money!!

I think they are kind of low key discussing Intra workout dextrose as a result of PWO fact acting slin.
Obviously without blatantly saying it.

I like water during workouts
I get too excited with sugar or too much caffeine, I prefer to REALLY focus on form if I'm powerlifting, or have great clarity for focusing on great contraction on every rep if I'm doing a BB workout like shoulders.

I've been known to drink a small coffee PWO, but I drink 9 cups a day, so it doesnt exactly fuck me ul

Thank you all for the reply’s. I was really curious and wanted to see if step up my training or recovery. All I was see that it is a waste of money or it worth every penny.

I find it helps the most during deficits. Something like 30-50g dextrose, 20-30g of an amino acid source, 5g creatine/taurine/salt and 100-200mg caffeine. Might add 8-10g citrulline malate and 1g tyrosine.

I mix that in 1-2l of water and drink it through my workout.
