Inbody muscle mass measurement

I did a inbody scan the other day. Does anyone know how accurate those are? Had me at 8% bf and 116lb lean mass of skeletal muscle mass. Have any of you tried eating for lean mass or muscle mass measurements instead of the standard body weight ratio?

With the inbody measurements, you need to be aware that your hydration level plays a big role in your results. I would do at least two measurements, couple weeks apart, and make sure to set them up the same way (no workout the day prior, drank x amount of gallons, sodium etc). Kind of the only way to be accurate imo.

As the algorithms for these tests are generally off data that is mostly based around the average person the results would have to be skewed the farther from average you are i would have to think.

Nice! Thatd be great!
Following up on this, I got the DEXA today, 24 weeks after my initial scan. After talking to a friend who confirms opinions here, I decided to not get the InBody for comparison - he found it to be a waste of money.

There's a weird alternative that's worth checking out, which is an app called Spren developed by the Elite HRV team - only on iPhone right now. Sounds like nonsense, I know, but I used it after the DEXA and the bodyfat result was within 0.24% using the "athlete mode," which is tuned for people with some muscle. The lean mass and fat mass estimates were within less than half a pound vs. the DEXA. The app is AI based and supposedly has a large training set behind it. All you do is take a front shot and side shot and enter some parameters. Your mileage may vary. I'd be interested in results that others get comparing it to DEXA, but I'm sold.

Awesome thanks!

You bet! One last update though: I went to the doc for my physical today, and they had a new inbody machine. I didn't look up the model. Anyway, the bodyfat result was 2.5% lower (absolute, not relative) than the DEXA. I believe the DEXA.

Edit:typo
Yea when i did mine it was 8% bf! I know for a fact i wasnt that low. Im at best 12-14! When ive taken caliper measurements on a good cut i was about that. Ive been just maintaining for several months. I ran a tren cycle this summer and my i guess i got to about 12 maybe a lil less at the leanest point.
