I'm George W. hear me talk.

Seeing how it's your first post here I won't go into with you. I was just under the impression that political B.S. wasn't allowed.

Not true. Political threads were always allowed. It's just that they got out of hand because a crew of teenagers took them over and started to flame everyone else, so the teens got banned, but political threads were not banned themselves.

The thing is we disagree but still show respect for one another, I don't think they want any disrespect to each other, just because I don't agree doesnt' mean I don't respect them,as it should be.

Basevol makes an excellent point. Political discussion was always a part of the GD section of the board for as long as I've been here (four years -- unless I'm mistaken, it was then called the Off-Topic section). The discussion was very lively and frequently quite heated but everyone always showed respect for one another, until quite recently.

For example, Bob Smith and I have diametrically opposed political views on just about everything political, but I learned quickly that his arguments were always well-reasoned and researched. Engaging with people like him exposed me to different views, gave me info I hand't encountered before, and even made me moderate some of my views. It was (and remains) fun to mix it up with people who knew what they were talking about and remained civil.

That changed when a handful of teeny-boppers hijacked these threads and turned them into flame wars. That's when Frosty, Windigo and KTCSsports started to call people who disagreed with them fags, morons and indiots. It wasa this type of bullshit that drove people away from theses threads. And when these same guys flamed the mods and pissed in their ears for trying to keep the discussions on an even keel, there was really no alternative but to ban them.

In posting this cartoon, I wanted to show that you could use humour to make political points without treating people who disagree with you as though they were shit. Hopefully, political threads will return to the board in the shape they were once in, now that the trashtalkers are gone.
