If most of us are good people why do we enjoy horror, sadistic torture movies?

I went on Netflix today and one of the top movies being watched was the “New” Texas Chainsaw Massacre so I just finished watching it.

The story doesn’t really mean anything because it was mainly watching humans get slaughtered and murdered as graphically and painfully as possible.

If most of us are inherently “Good” human beings then why do we spend money on watching these things and in many cases we will go to the movies, spend money on popcorn and soda only to watch ourselves get disgusted and grossed out.

What makes us do this to ourselves and in many cases we love to drag along friends and family members so they can have the same “Experience”?

I don't think it's the violence that attracts people. I think it's the characters that are going through a situation and we become interested in how they react. We probably put ourselves in their shoes at least mentally. It's probably the look into mind and how it goes mad. The evil characters in TCM have no feelings or regard for suffering, no morality, no empathy, they are beyond psychopaths as even they have feelings, these characters are more like sharks.

It's not the violence in the movies as lots of movies have a high kill count. It's the dark depraved mind. Leather Face can't be blamed for what he does because he's completely crazed. You're not gonna have a conversation with Leather Face, he only knows how to carve you up. The much more scary thing is the guy that sits down and has a rational reasoned conversation with you before he escorts you to your death as that becomes absurd for an intelligent person that knows he's doing wrong, but does it anyway.

Real life is probably more horrific if you live in areas with extreme violence. Our horror movies are bad, but they're nothing compared to the real life violence in South and Central America, in the Middle East. What has happened in wars with mass killings. Pol Pot's killing fields. Communism's mass purges. There were stories of Stalin cleaning the streets of children beggars and taking them to a place to be shot and dumped in mass burials. In modern times there is no one that I consider more scary than Stalin as that mofo was indeed sadistic on a level that is completely broken.

Yes. Art imitates life, not vice versa, and the horrors mankind inflicts on one another are far more horrific than any hollywood movie ive ever seen could demonstrate.

The worst real things ive ever seen that still haunt me to this day, in no particular order but described in the vivid detail i remember:

- “faceless”
Video starts and there is a young man maybe late teens laying on a floor. His face has been skinned off and his eyeballs removed. He is still very alive. Both his hands have been cut off and he has a wire restraining his upper arms along the side of his body. He keeps trying in vain to protect his missing face but because his hands are missing he can only get within a few inches below his chin. At this point the torturers use the end of a broomstick shoved into his mouth and pressed against the back of his throat to hold his head in place while another guy slits his throat. As they are cutting his throat he seems surprised and attempts to scream stop or no, but he seems himself conflicted about it almost as if you can tell he realizes there is no point living now with no face or eyes. After only puncturing a hole in his trachea and slightly cutting the inside borders of his carotid arteries they leave him to writhe in agony as he slowly drowns in his own blood. He continues to be alive coughing blood until the video ends.

- “chainsaw beheading”
This is a rather popular video some of you may have seen. Two men, supposedly an uncle and his nephew, are sitting propped up against a stone wall. Both men look defeated and resigned to their fate. A chainsaw enters the frame and the uncle, knowing his demise, raises his chin up so the chainsaw can get to his throat easily. As soon as the chainsaw hits his throat it bucks out, leaving an instant gash in his throat. For one second theres no blood, then his heart beats and blood gushes down his chest. The chainsaw comes back towards him and the man raises his chin back up. This time the chainsaw bites as he grimaces in agony, it only takes a few seconds to reach his spinal column at which point his eyeballs shoot out of his head and disappear out of frame, one of them almost striking the camera lens filming. The entire time this is happening the blood is whipping off the end of the chainsaw onto his nephews face. At this point his head is hanging by a thread and the chainsawer goes back in to sever the remaining threads of flesh, in the process of doing so he cuts into the shoulder of the nephew who barely flinches. The chainsaw turns off and the nephew turns to look at his decapitated uncle and the gash in his shoulder. A second executioner enters frame and uses a dull knife to try and decapitate the nephew, at first the kife fails to cut in perhaps the nephews tensing his neck muscles too hard but after a few seconds of brute force his trachea is cut into. The executioner then leaves him on the ground to gasp for air and choke on his blood for a few as if to draw out as much agony as possible before proceeding to continue decapiting the guy but struggling to get the knife through his spine.

- “black and blue”
A man, supposedly the brother of a female mexican prosecutor who is prosecuting a drug cartel, is abducted. He lays on a floor of what seems to be an abandoned building. He has been gagged and restrained by duct tape. Frayed electrical wires are taped inbetween his toes and apparently being controlled by a switch out of frame. Every few seconds he convulses violently from electrocution. A man enters the frame with a baseball bat and unloads a hail of body blows to every part of this guys body except his neck and head. The electricution pulses continue this entire time, causing his muscles and organs to contract around the broken bone fragments probably cutting him apart from the inside. No blood is ever visible but the intensity of the baseball bat hits is incredibly high, its an utterly vicious series of dizens if not hundreds of blows all over his body. When the first attacker gets tired a second enters and continues. The man writhes around most the time attempting to scream but its muffled by the gag. At one point he goes motionless as if he gives up trying to survive, and is struck a dizen times in the back, all of a sudden its like he remembers a reason to live and reanimates thrashing around desperately trying to plead for his life. The attackers give no fuck and continue to mercilessly pulverize this poor guy as the electrocution bursts continue. The video ends with him still alive but obviously nobody would survive this even if they stopped at that moment. After killing this guy the cartel successfully killed his sister, the prosecuter, like a month later (after having failed before abducting her brother for torture which they sent a video of to her).

Thats just 3 videos that haunt me. I could carry on with descriptions of dozens more ive seen. If you google around you can find the above mentioned videos but i warn you this is ultra real and ultra horrible shit to witness and you will quickly realize how hprrible human beings are. The above mentioned videos are all from mexico, but ive seen terrible things from around the world however the mexicans do love recording their most horrific shit and making it public.

I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre on nflix last night as well, it was softcore compared to the real videos ive seen.

Ive seen a lot of people die on video. Its a very intimate thing to witness. Hollywood portrays death as so quick, like someone gets stabbed and bam they are dead (like the girl inside the truck in texas chainsaw massacre). Thats not the reality at all, youd be shocked by how much damage the human body can take and still be alive for many minutes. Ive seen guys stabbed dozens of times and still trying to fight for survival, screaming and choking on blood fighting their killer every step of the way. Ive seen people cut in half and dragging their entrails around the ground. Ive seen people have their heads cut off and their eyes continue to look around. Also most people dont just die, theres stages and the last is often agonal breathing which goes on for several minutes when possible where the person while unconcious their body tries to continue breathing, usually making these snoring like sounds. Its very ugly to hear especially if its because their throat was slit.

Id estimate 2000+ people ive seen die in almost every way you could imagine. Some of the comments you see on these vids are more disturbing than the vids themselves. People LOLing and shit, ive never laughed at these videos and cant fathom doing such. Some of the vids have made me cry, many have given me nightmares, and most still haunt me to this day. The look in their eyes, the ways they screamed, cried, pleaded for their lives, choked on their blood, it stays with you forever to be honest.

Humans are terrible creatures. The cruelty to one another is unbelievable.

While i agree with, why the fuck are you watching so many death videos?

Fascination perhaps. Curiosity maybe. In a way i almost feel obligated though, like to not watch is to turn a blind eye to this persons life and death.

Its one thing to know such and such died, but just knowing is devoid of any true connection to them. To witness their death creates a connection to them, i often mourn for them even though i never knew them, i saw what they went through in their final moments.

Its like reading someone died in an obituary verse being next to them the moment they took their last breath, its two completely different things.

Gore websites like (bestgore). I haven't watched them in many years because you're right, they are far more horrific than anything you see in a horror movies.

It's really South and Central America that has a total disregard for human life and suffering. Even the most crazy Jihadist will pray before he slits your throat. Not those guys South of our border. These people have a ruthlessness that you hope you never run into. Even the guys that are watching their buddies and waiting their turn to be slowly dismembered have a cold look, blank stare on their faces, they don't scream out, they just take it with a slight grimace.

My personal adventure into this realm started with Middle Eastern beheading videos 20 years ago, of the sorts where they take a knife and saw your head off while your gurgle and choke on blood. And I thought I'd seen it all. Nope.

Never have I found violence like what is carried out with our next door neighbors to the South. You couldn't pay me to live over there and I hope they never bring that evil shit over here.

I can only think its sort of like the early European explorers when they landed in North America and experienced the Aztecs and saw the horror of these people and began to wage a war against them. We call these Europeans evil, but deep down I don't think they had a choice but to try to bring the madness to an end. Human sacrifice by cutting a slit into your stomach, reaching in and ripping your beating heart out and cutting your head off, tossing your body down the temple steps to have your skull turned into a bowl and your limbs turned into a tasty stew. That is the sort of shit that was going on before we showed up.

Ya bestgore feautured many of the vids. The site is gone now though. Theync.com and documentingreality.com host most of what ive seen. Tread carefully to anyone who dares visit.

Theres an intense rush of emotions when you first witness such acts. The first emotion people usually experience is this incredible blood thirsty rage. A strong desire to want to inflict upon the killer the actions they are inflicting upon the victim. Its a really primal anger, your blood boils with rage. I only experienced that a few times at first then became more of an intense sadness or in some cases total numbness.

Your right about the latin american violence, they have the most heartless treatment of eachother and they do it by the masses. Ive been to mexico 3 times but i dont care to ever go back, something about knowing the guy i walk past on the street there couldve been one of these heartless killers is disturbing, id rather not even be on the same planet as these animals let alone in the same city.

I dont think we can say europeans are better, if you look back to the medieval times europeans did atrocious things to each other too. Or more recently the holocaust for example. However much more civilized since those days for sure. I dont think any of our ancestors (of any ethnicity) are free of the guilt of terrible atrocities. Id hate to say its human nature, but ive seen so much its hard to say otherwise.

Im fortunate to have not had to endure witnessing such acts in person. I feel for the military guys, police officers, and medical personnel that witness such horrors everyday in their jobs. The stories they could tell, the even tiny details that are etched into not just their memories but the very fabric of their soul im sure is unimagineable to most.

You seen some shit bro? If so, do you think youve moved on or do you think there is no such thing after that?

I stopped watching anything from these gore websites when I watched some jihadis line up a bunch of little kids and shoot them in the back as they waited their turn in terror while their mothers were screaming. The guy doing the shooting had his gun jam while he was going down the line and started laughing as he unjammed it and continued on.

That video had my pulse pounding and I felt so much rage towards those evil bearded shitbags that I couldn't watch anymore videos.

I'd say real life is actually less stressful than some of those videos.

Working in hospitals for almost 25 years I saw a lot of gun shots, amputations, traffic accidents, people beaten to death.

After awhile it doesn't even phase you, it all becomes routine.

Those videos are shot in a way that makes it much more intimate because you know it's coming, you can study every detail. In real life things happen so fast that you don't have time to react, there is no time to experience horror, you go into autopilot.

Obviously war would be the worst because it's probably only when you know you're close to death that you realize all the romantic ideas that a person is sold about war are 100% bullshit and you've been conned as some jackass wartime industrialist is laughing his ass off at the size of his bank account while your buddies bodies lay on the ground.

As for cops, I consider them mercenaries that are hired to wage war against us. At this point the friendly cop that is looking out for you doesn't exist, he's a predator hired by the state to hunt us down.

When I was in high school a friend of mine brought a Faces of Death VHS tape over to my house. That shit still haunts me and I've never again watched anything like it and never will.
