Hypocrite?

I am just wondering why alot of Pro BB say don't use drugs ect. and they use them don't that make them a hypocrite? I am just wondering what everyone else opinions is on that.

People really don't want to know the REAL truth...whether it is performance enhancement in BB or every other sport. There are plenty who think WWE is real and BB's don't use drugs. Sports fans all want to see someone hit 80 homeruns, but don't want to know what it took behind the scenes. It's a fantasy, and who are BB's to spoil it for the crowd, sponsors and ultimately their own wallet.

good point!.. I know my relatives think WWE is real. [:o)] I cant tell them any different either. i wonder if they will start this real strict drug policy.

Umm...maybe the fact that using/possessing AAS is at least a misdemeanor and is a felony in many states has something to do with it.

A lot of pro athletes who use drugs say don't use them either. Of course it's hypocritical. Many people aren't interested in being genuine. Unfortunately, the simple matter of it is that being genuine can hold you back from maximal physical performance and accomplishment in bodybuilding and many strength-based sports (I don't think it would affect golf or bowling that much).

The reason it's good to avoid them is that it's a sacrifice of long-term health due to unknown effects, for short-term gain. Humanity only cares about who's winning some sort of cup each year though, not who is the healthiest and going to live the longest. Sure, they'll marvel at the 100 year old guy doing chinups but they still want to be like Mr. Universe or the Baseball homerun hitter. That's the problem I guess. We worship the moment and not the future.

Also the illegalness too. Although, perhaps these people want to become icons. Indeed, if you have a massive physique, if you act like you acquired it with hard work (even though you used steroids) for those who believe you did it with just hard work, they'll be motivated to try harder. This can be a good thing. It could even be altruistic in a weird way if you think about them sacrificing their health to inspire people. Although, since most do it for the glory probably not :)

Yeah i understand what you are saying and makes sense too. I agree with bob too. But I was reffering to interview with a bodybuilder . he was ask what are something he would change in the sport and he said the drugs. he also meantioned in the article that he took AAS but he only took a small amount of them. that is why i was saying it a Hypocrite. That isn't the first article i read like that either. Even Dorain Yates on his website he said he took small amounts of them.

They all probably took small amount of them for BBers. :D

I agree with bob. yes they are illegal and someone shouldn't go running saying they took this illegal drug blah blah blah. Someone might get into trouble. So that is very good point.

It took a while for me to get some feedback from this post..

Whether you use a little or a lot it's still illegal. People should just be open about it, you can't get arrested for admitting steroids use. You can say anytthing, doesn't make it evidence. I killed a man! ....see? That's why I like Lee Priest, he's right out there w/ it, gives cycle advice to fans and what not. [:o)]

Well other than them not wanting people to hate them, I think people like lee are good because just cause you tell someone what you eat or use isn't gonna make them in competiton with you. That's like saying barry bonds uses this special bat . Just cause you use that bat doesn't mean you can hit one homerun or play competitive baseball AT ALL> Another pros are pros. story. But people that always talk down about aas and use them in secret are hypocrites. Saying nothing is better than that.

Carlo Gambino, Vito Genovese, Sam Giancana and John Gotti all denied committing any crimes also, so are they hypocrites? Because I'm sure they did commit crimes.

yeah but here is the major point that everyone doesn't realize, just because you take AAS only helps you not the average person could take steroids and make to play MLB. the biggest secret is there isn't a big secret. :D

My major point is, it's not legal.. It would be stupid for a pro BB to go around preaching how great steroids are, and how much he uses. Thats incriminating himself, thats what the original question was. Not what you spoke about above. Sure its not a big secret, but only a fool would incriminate himself. If you don't understand that now, I'm sure if you had to sit in the state penitentiary for a few years you would understand.

It also would be dangerous for them to say anything but they dabbled around a little with AAS.

Good points role model. I think the main part is when people used them and say they are bad. it would be better if they say just don't use them. or even better don't say anything about it at all. Maybe i am being one side to this topic. I believe if you say something you shouldn't contradict yourself.

I think too much of that goes on these days.

They cant break the status quo... There has been too much bullshit negative pub. about juice for one athlete or hell even a group to say "yeah I use/we anabolics and there have been no negative side effects."

Refer to "Reefer Madness" of the 1930's. Nearly everything in that flick is bullshit, everyone knows it, but no one says publicly "hey I smoke, wanna burn"

Those with no expierence have way too much influence...as usual

My opinion on Bodybuilders not admitting they take steriods and other drugs is for a whole host of reasons. First it is illegal and many don't want to bring more trouble their way as far as feds and local authorities.

Second believe it or not a lot of people don't know that BB use drugs to get to those incredible sizes. I have been reading bodybuilding magazines since I was fourteen and I mostly read Muscle and Fitness, Men's Fitness and Flex Magazine. I didn't even know bb were using steroids until 2000 when I first picked up my copy of Muscular Development. I was shocked and that actually sparked my whole interest in AAS, GH and more.

I truly thought like the advertisers inside the pages of Flex, Muscle & Fitness and others wanted me to think. That you could get that big by simply working out, getting plenty of rest, having the proper diet, eating 6 times a day and taking these wonderful "MuscleTech, Weider, TwinLabs, AnimalMass and other company suppliments" products.

Also I would not be surprise that many say they don't because they don't want to deal with the questions they will be asked by you and I. I mean most people want to know what Ronnie Coleman, Lee Priest, Jay Cutler, and others are taking.

When they are in the gym, how many times do you think someone comes up to them and ask them what they cycle is, how long they are on their cycle and then ask them "Hey have you heard of this AAS? Do you think it is any good"? Also if any of the Pro BB's admitted what they took and how much they took, I could just imagine the amount of UG labs that would be clamoring to get them to endorse their products.

British Dragon- the official AAS of Toney Freeman is just an example of the crap that would be involved. Last many of these athletes are sponsored by Supplement company's and those companies would not be happy if their sponsored athlete is admitting that his gains, improvements and success is more to do with AAS, GH, IGF-1 and insulin then it does with some so-called "anabolic whey protein".

Good point. I like your response.

It would be stupid to say you use AAS when some company was paying you to use their products espically since that company is paying for you to say you use these products. I would suppose they get a nice check. from all the sponsorships. they probably already driven crazy by people who ask what kind of stacks they use and how long. I guess that BBers secret.

They start to lose credibility with the general public. People think that because you take steroids you just automatically get huge by lifting a couple weights and don't realize the work thats put in is 10x more than anyone that seriously lifts weights.

Thanks Big Country for the Compliment.

I also agree with Jsupstarz point as well.

Also I truly believe that just like professional athletes, bodybuilders don't wish to admit that they take performance enhancing drugs because this could in some way make people believe they are not as talented as the public once thought they were or that they don't work as hard.

I mean listen to the media and they make it as if the only reason this ball player or that ball player is on a MLB roster is because he takes steroids. Like anyone could hit 30 or 40+ homeruns with just a year cycle of performance enhancing drugs.

If a bodybuilder told what he drugs he takes, people would be more concern about his drug cycle and less about his work ethics, genetics, training technique, approach and years of training.

I am surprised by how many people when I tell them that IFBB bodybuilders create these incredible and unattainable physiques with some assistance of drugs and they believe that anyone who takes enough steroids can become "Mr Olympia".
