Hmmmm...I thought it was Bush who wanted to reinstate the draft...

John Kerry keeps saying that Bush and those evil Republicans are trying to secretly reinstate the draft.....but it appears that he needs to look at his own party......

Rangel wants to reinstate draft
Yeah, Dem. Sen Fritz Hollings is the other jackass supporting the draft. But not a single Republican has said anything about the draft. Of course, that didn't stop Dan Rather from doing another hit piece on Bushing, doing a story that claimed the Bush Admin was considering reinstating the draft. He then interviewed a woman (who is a democratic activist, though of course Rather left that out of his report) who was crying that she didn't want her son to get drafted and die in an unjust war. CBS really has lost any credibility it may have had.

Uhhhh,, yeh. Pretty stupid way to make a point, But its a ceremonious bill..it was written to become a matter of congressional record as a protest to war . This guy ( black ) wants more white people and rich people to be involved in a draft, when GWB institutes it. .

I think that a draft will come, and i even think it may be necessary to keep the military fully staffed.

I am relatively serious.
Dems want the draft. they think only poor kid join the military.
Recruters met all there requirments this year. There is no need for a draft. And I don't think the american people would except it unless there was a world war............11

Well, as a 24 year old white, rich male....I am offended that a black senator would write a ceremonious bill to "prove a point" taht I need to go to war!!!! They are playing games with a very sensitive issue here.

My point in posting this was to show that Kerry keeps (he did it tonight too) saying Bush is planning a draft....when in fact it is his own people who are doing the "planning".

Chuck Hegel (R) Nebraska was one of the original idiots to bring up this idea as it relates to the Iraq venture. I guess I'm too jaded in my old age, but it's become clearer over the years that the democrats need the republicans and the republicans need the democrats and the system needs both to continue feeding itself. Both parties are ideologically bankrupt, so they need each other so they can hold up the appearance of a legitimate ideological position. Soldiers are dying in Iraq for some reason that can't be explained by Bush, and all the Dems can throw at him is Kerry? Looks like to me that American citizens are in the middle of a "fucked sandwich."

Most all politicians will do just about anything if it's politically expedient. And they'd also be happy have their next door neighbor's children drafted if it served their ends. The military no longer perserves freedom, and hasn't done so in a long time; The purpose of the military is to implement government policy.

Oh yeah, I cleaned 165 kilos the other day. In spite of everything going on, always put your trust in the steel.
