Dude, why should the distribution of wealth be equal? We have money because we work for it. Tell me why the fuck some asshole in a Latin country deserves any better distribution of wealth when he takes a fucking 3 hour siesta every day. If he spent those three hours building a new industrial center, then his standard of living would rise along with the rest of the country that he resides in.

I knew I'd get something for that last comment. Grizz you misunderstood me brother. The United States continuously looks for new markets to export its goods and labor. The idea that many currently 3rd world countries would become open to the Global Economy stands to benefit the United States more than any other country. So the idea that nationans become equal in wealth is a great premise for the US, because it opens many more markets for the US to dominate. And while the US pays close to 100% to put forth such efforts today, a tax would be a way to make all nations responsible for modernizong and westernizing subsistant countries. the US would mop up.

HOWEVER, I'm not saying I agree with the tax. The idea of keeping global currency in one place with one set of eyes watching is a scary proposition and an invitation for a global laundering scandal.

Again, with the distribution of wealth, it's not so much that the other countries don't have any wealth, it's that the gov'ts of said countries take it all. How high was the highlife that Saddam was living whilst his people lived like shit? Any other sheihk? How about Castro? Mexico has an assload of money that goes through it, but somehow it never gets to the people. Maybe it has something to do with the nationalization of all major revenue producers; namely oil.

i agree. there's a natural progression and the distribution of the funds would be a huge issue of debate. i think it would cause more squabble about where to allocate funds than anything, and i think you're right - they can't just be given the cash, they've got to "get it" first.
