My 17 year old son is powerlifting in meet this saturday. He has been over the past 2 weeks trying to lose 3 pounds to get into a lighter class.we have worked with his diet and have him very close to where he needs to be.lets say if he is trying to get in 165 lbs and under class and he weights 165 today/wednesday and the meet is saturday morning..they weigh in about 8 am and start lift about 9 am the comp will last about 8 hours.
1.what do I feed him friday lunch and dinner ?
2. should he use OJ or gapefruit juice for dieuretic aid several hours before weigh in ?
3.What could I mix him up to take to drink after weigh in and in between lifts for energy ?
4.what snacks can he eat immediatly after weigh in for strength ?/energy ???I am new to this game..i always eat like a horse to gain weight..!!

well, with only a one hour weigh in (most meets have a 24 hr weigh in) - then you just need to basically have him cut out his sodium the last 2 days before the show and don't drink anything after an early dinner Fri night. His dinner fri night should be mostly protein, with little carbs.

Sat morning, get up and and go to the bathroom. You should make weight no problem.

Then immediately get in about 2 quarts of pedialite and get something full sodium to eat. (Like in the first 5 minutes after weighing in). Then drink a weight-gainer shake with whey protein, sugary carbs, and no fat. After that drink as much gatorade as you can without getting sick, but keep forcing him to drink it throughout the day. Food is whatever sounds good - pb sandwiches are great. I'm always nervous and can't eat much but I can drink a ton.
