Dutasteride – Low DHT Side Effects

I've been on Dutasteride for over six months now, and it has saved my hairline. However, after stopping Trestolone (which I was taking year-round) due to insomnia and water retention, I'm now only on testosterone. As a result, I no longer have any significant androgenic activity in my body and am suddenly feeling all the side effects of low DHT.

I don’t want to stop Dutasteride since it’s protecting my hair, but I need something to replace the lost DHT. Any ideas? I considered a low dose of Masteron or Primobolan, along with topical RU-58841 (+ the oral Dutasteride), but I’m unsure if they’ll still negatively affect my hair.

What is your current dose of testosterone and levels of testosterone (as well as estradiol if you have it)? One of the positives of dutasteride is most folks are able to slightly push their testosterone doses further to make up for the lack of androgenicity, while conveniently being able to retain a higher anabolic load.

Are you taking .5mg daily of the dutasteride as well?

How about dropping the dose, or using eod?
Agreed - This was my reasoning for asking if it was daily. If he's only been on 6 months and it's saved his hairline, dutasteride daily doesn't reach steady state for six months, so he could very likely halve his dose and still get all the benefits he's looking for with little additional hairloss.

I admire OPs proactive hair protection, that's the way to do it.

Must find a way to make it sustainable, that's the key.

I'm a finasteride hyper-responder, and went down to .25mg to find a tolerable dose.

I'd just hate to see someone quit because of sides.

Anything < a MW of 500 will enter your body.
RU will go systematic and you don't know what it does.

MW:
RU-58841 369.3
Finasteride 372.5

You can considering stopping oral dut and switch to topical fin.

At 0.25% fin once daily, scalp DHT dropped by ~50% while serum DHT dropped by ~24–26%. Twice daily, serum DHT fell by ~44-48%.

Who knows what RU does at 5-10%...

I can't tell my levels because, in the blood work, my levels are capped, but on 875mg of Test a week, I should be around 5000-8000. E2 was high last time, around 175, but I'm taking AI more frequently now. I feel good on high levels, but I couldn't handle the water retention anymore.

Also, yes, I'm still on 0.5mg of Dutasteride a day, and I may as well add it topically.

I could do it, but I'm unsure as it must reduce its efficiency a lot, and I really love my hair. What I'll do right now adding microneedling, and also, I have Minoxidil 5% at home, but I won't use it too much as I stopped it due to weird and not harmonious hair regrowth. Do you think it can be used less often, like twice a week instead of every evening?

I ask because I am trying to save my hair again, as within a week, Tren A shredded all of it—it was crazy. I stopped it too, and I'll stick to Test only forever.

Duta's molecular weight is > 500.
Might not penetrate as well vs fin..might not penetrate at all.
(Duta) 528.539 vs 372.5 (Fin)

Duta has close to the same molecular weight as Keto shampoo....

I wanted to use RU just for general preventive however knowing it might go into the blood puts me off. I know is important for some aspects of mental health and bodybuilding but it seems topical would be the only way to focus mostly on the scalp dht. I also have considered estrodil cream at a certain size to compete with the receptors in the scalp. Still need to research that a bit more. But eventually I'd like to have a soild protocol just be ahead of hairloss if I ever get any... But so far at 29. Still norwood 1 to 0. I have chest hair but def not as much as a high dht sensitive individual including slow facial hair growth. Tren has at times made this grow faster though even started growing deltoid hairs lol...... But that effects goes away when I stop the tren.

Jump on early - Being the guy with a full head of hair, jacked, and full of vigor is a cheat code to be the coolest dude in the room. Start using tret on the face as well while you’re at it.

So topical duta could work well and not enter blood stream? If so I'll buy the raws for it and make it. Already made DIY topical tret and a few other topicals thus far.

Way ahead of you. Been using tret for a decade now. I even homebrew it as I managed to get a kg of it.....works well. 0.1% concentration I'll never run our as long as I keep it in my freezef and vacuum sealed. Sunscreen is another staple for my routine....

Yes but it is extraordinarily potent, so just be aware of that when you make your solutions. If you’re putting 5G worth on your head in a solution and 10% goes systemic, that’s the daily dose of dutasteride at .5G/day.

You can also just take .5G orally once a week, makes a big difference on hair and completely avoids the possibility of (wildly overblown) sides.

However would it not reduce the effects of dht compounds? I'm starting to notice iv been low dht all my life. Taking mast my muscles harden up and my water weight is is reduced a lot. If I can focus on topical I think I'll able to keep dht up and still get slower hairloss. I'm testing the noorwood reaper at this point but I like the mental effects of better dht.

It's 0.5mg, not 0.5g.

yes, bad autocorrect.

As for DHT compounds, not at all. It only stops the conversion of T into DHT, doesn’t affect already reduced compounds like Mast/Primo/etc
Ah OK right since it's synthetic and competes makes sense. So I guess what really matter is getting the dht from test which also happens to get relased when you lower shgb (mast freeuping up more androgen)

Are you using this dose daily? I had been using this daily for the first week and would start getting this pain in my balls while I was sitting. Went down to EOD and symptoms subsided significantly. What causes this pain in the nut sack.

Yeah I was using .25mg daily, but like everything in the battle to keep your hair.

it's not all or nothing. Whatever you can tolerate as far as 5-AR inhibition will help. That tiny bit of Fin you're on likely does more to protect your hair than everything else you could do, combined.

DHT is a vasodilator affecting certain tissues, especially the genitals and prostate.

So lower DHT reduces blood flow to your nuts. Low dose daily Cialis can relieve the discomfort.

It's the reason why the prostate shrinks so quickly when using Fin or Dut.

I break the dutasteride pills in half and take 0.25mg once every 5 days. I believe the half life is 10 days so you could take 0.5mg every 10 days instead but but this way I feel like I have more even levels. So far no hair loss and zero side effects. Can't even tell I'm taking it. I'm not sure how much you take but I would cut back for sure. I was starting to shed on cycle but this plus Costco minoxidil foam reversed it
