Digestion problems and experiences

In another thread, it was brought up that as we go through this passion we call bodybuilding, alot of us have had to deal with digestion issues at some point or another. I thought it would be a good idea to have a single thread where people can share their experiences with digestive issues, what they have done, and how they are making there way through it.

My story begins in the beginning of 2018 when everytime I ate, I would have a pain in my kidneyish area. Went to the doctor and my creatinine was high. She said lay off the protein and if it gets worse come back. Well I was freaked out and it seemd like it was getting worse so I went back. My level had raised and I told them I needed to go to a nephrologist. Had to wait a month to see the specialist. During that time, since I thought my kidneys were failing, did the kidney diet and was barely eating anything really. Dropped about 20lbs.

The week before my appointment I started having terrible heartburn. Because I was in a panicked state, since I thought my kidneys were failing, went to the emergency room. By this time I had the pain in my back, what I thought were loose stools, and had dropped weight. I thought I had pancreatic cancer (I am an avid googler). Nephrologist said my kidneys were fine. Went to a gastroenterologist. Did endoscopy and ct scan. They were adamant I didnt have cancer while I was adamant I did. My stools kept getting worse and I was gassy plus I had all this pain. Ended up getting an endoscopic ultra sound that proved I didnt have cancer.

Still had all these digestive issues now and was afraid to eat food. They could not tell me what was wrong. I went to another gastro. Did other tests and tried different medications, nothing seemed to help. Tried a low fodmap diet. Did food sensitivity testing and did a diet based off of that for awhile. Didnt help. Ended up going to mayo. There conclusion was ibs with bile acid malabsorption. Stuck me on cholestyramine pills. These kind of help, but i still have constant pain. The only thing that has really helped me is kratom (allows me to eat what I want to pain free and slows my digestion down).

I am working through it but im still afraid to eat at work because I need to function and don't want to have an episode. I try and not eat a huge amount of fat because I can tell that makes a difference. Also, some sugar alcohols and fast acting carbs give me a reaction. Its hard to hit my calories, but I am still alive and figuring it out.

I hope others will share their experiences no matter how small or large they are, because most of us at some time or another have had to deal with some sort of digestive issue.

I feel your pain and struggle my friend. I dealt with severe GI issues myself which was eventually just labeled IBS after numerous inconclusive tests. It appears I have some type of autoimmune issue but hard to get to the bottom of it. The only thing that significantly helped me is intermittent fasting. I really worked on giving my GI tract a break. I mean truly water fasting, no calories. My GI and bloodwork both improved. I do believe the over food consumption was playing a part in my ibs. It is common in bodybuilding due to the amount of calories we have to eat.

Doesnt it suck when they do all of the tests and they are just like "we are not sure, probably this, sorry" literally drove me crazy. It was a dark time in my life.

With the intermittent fasting, is that what you do currently and it seems to help? Or did you do that for awhile to let your digestive track heal then were able to go back to eating?

I've also gotten the same problem back in the day I am scarred for life from this gi shit. I used to eat and food go right thru me while j was at work or out and about. I literally was scared to eat most time.

I found out the eggs were one of the main causes and I think the eq from my last cycle gave me ibs

But literally my savior has been weed and Digest Gold digestive enzymes they both do wonders for digestion

I use digestive enzymes not too fond of weed, but I am willing to try anything if itd help. Things just dont seem right when you eat then like 5 hours later you feel as though the stuff you at is coming out. They say it can happen, but doesn't make one feel like they are ok.

I take breaks from IF but when I get discomfort, or overeat I go back to IF to make myself regular again. But it appears IF has taken away about 90% of my occurrences and even more so general inflammation. I think that it has helped most with that, reducing inflammation.

Yea I was getting so annoyed trying to get a specific diagnosis. Just kinda gave up and searched for wholistic and lifestyle changes. I have been able to stop taking my prescription GERD medicine as well as put weight back on.

Super frustrating, but happy I dont have to suffer through those severe bouts again. It would hit me and last days. More often than not I would end up in the hospital.

Did anyone get an GI or digestion issues after running EQ?

I even went to a gastroenterologist because I literally would get diarrhea anytime I ate anything. I couldnt keep food down or eat more than 1 time a day due to pain and discomfort

I would work 12 hours without eating cause my stomach was so fucked up.

After doing an Endoscopy and colonoscopy they figured out I have a slight tear in my upper intensive area which gets inflamed and causes pain.

After doing my own research and trying every acid reflux medication nothing worked until I started smoking weed. Marijuanas cannabinoids will reduce the inflammation in the intestines and will help with digestion. I even told my gastroenterologist and he said he can't legal say anything when it comes to marijuana but he told me between us if its work to keep on using it because hes seen overseas studies where it has helped with GI issues

But please make sure you get clean indoor high quality weed not cheap outdoor shit that's sprayed with chemicals that will fucked your stomach up

Anyone ever try a fodmap diet to see if it was a certain food or even a diet that u remove certain foods and add them back in slowly?

Sometimes it has to do with digestive enzymes pre biotics as well as pro biotics (yes there is a difference)

I was taking a magnesium blend over the last year and i had not crapped normally since, it was a blend by life ectension and once i stopped that recently im now having full poo's and not as watery and not as looseScreenshot_20191222-154030.jpg

A convo on pro muscle brought up different forms of magnesium and the best to take oxide should be skipped as it causes loosening of stool and stomach upset etc... Screenshot_20191215-131121.jpgScreenshot_20191215-131115.jpg

I didnt know eq could cause gi distress? Just read about how it could improve appetite. I did a sensitivity test too. I didnt really have that much stuff, or things I wasnt eating anyways

I tried the fodmap diet when I was going through stuff. It is pretty boring lol I found it didnt help me as much as I would have liked. Maybe what I need to do ia try it again, but start very minimally at first and add in stuff slowly to see how my body reacts.

I as well. Over the coarse of 2+ years I tried every diet I could think of. But I could not attribute it to a specific food, more so my stress, sleep, amount of food and timing played the biggest parts for me.

EQ didnt affect me but my first bout I had I wss running tren e. Stuck with it a little while until I realized how bad it was.

Shoot, I read a guy that said tren fixed his ibs lol That's the only reason i have found that makes me want to try it ha ha

I definitely cant buy into that, it is known to cause heart burn, kills your appetite and causes insomnia. Yea ..... not touching that again.

On a side note I did start taking HGH when i began IF. May be part of my success. At the very least the shit is keeping me ripped.

I thought about hgh. Also,( I havnt read much about it), but isnt there a peptide bpc something that helps with healing? I havnt looked into it much yet ,but maybe it could be used for intestinal healing too?

Bpc-157 I've heard about that to for GI and also healing tissue damage. I would be looking into this if I was still having bouts. Shit I would have tried anything to not go through that again.

Had some major GI issues myself in the past- loose stool, stomach pain and bloating. Had a scope done and came back mild gastritis. Gastro Doc also checked for h-pylori and gluten sensitivity but both were negative. Did some reading up On Gut flora and probiotics on various GI forums and came across the Visbiome. Asked my GI doc about is and she said it’s probiotic given to patients who suffer from IBS, ulcerative colitis, puchitis, and Hepatic Encephalopathy. Started taking it about a year ago and haven’t had any GI issues since.
