Choosing Lift Attempts

I'm trying out a mock pl meet and was wondering how to choose the weight to attempt.

There are a few good "attempt selection calculators" online.

They tend to be laid out like:

#1 = 3rm
#2 = 2rm
#3 = 1rm or PR Goal

I think that's a pretty safe rule of thumb to get you started, the only one that's pretty universal is the opener. You'll always have to adjust from there so you don't overshoot your planned attempts.

Analyzing RIR/RPE takes a lot of practice... It's a love hate thing for me.

Typically your openers should be something you can triple or maybe even get four. Second attempt something you can double. Third go for a PR based on how the first two went.

In the weeks leading up to your deload meet week you'd be hitting max doubles and/or triples. That gives you an idea where you want to be.

Personally I’d be hitting maxes 3-4 weeks out. Deload 1-2 weeks out. Hit openers 6-7 days out. Take most of the meet week off. Maybe do some light bs Wednesday at the latest. Opener would be something you can hit for 3 any day, 2nd should be something you can double and 3 attempt either a pr or base off how you feel

Eman hit it on the head. Your opener should be what you can hit for a tripple on your worst day. Base your next lift on how that feels basicly what you can double is a safe place to start. Third lift I always go for a PR be it 1KG. If your going for a total PR you may want to be more conservative on your 3rd lift
