Case Dismissed

3 weeks ago i had my case dismissed pursuant to 1203.4 PC.
3 years ago i was arrested and charged with violation sec. code 11378 PC H&S Possession for Sale of Controlled Substance. i had 1600 thai dbol ordered from Thailand. i did a couple days in the LA county jail, 126 days of CALTRANS (1008 hours of freeway community service labor type work) and formal probation with a FELONY. this was my first offense. i was being investigated for 6 months but i didnt care because i really didnt know the consequences were that bad.

Now all i want to know is, will this stop me from getting a good job because i dont know what i am going to do if i read that i cannot. i just got hired at rite-aid as a cashier, im 22 and this is pathetic. today i had to fill out a form for ChoicePoint background checks so they havent done the check yet. i applied for target security and they are still doing the check. ever since i was convicted, i read about 1203.4 which is a dismissal from the court for first offenders, i was excited to know i can get a good job. it should show up as arrested but case dismissed. I am no longer a convicted felon so they cant hold shit against me and i wil flip if they do.

If they do, what kind of jobs am i looking at that are not fuckin embarassing like retail cashiers and shit? i was thinking of working for the state but dont know what jobs. i want a job that fuckin older people have, not some kid cashier shit. im in CA and my case took place here as well.

hey bro i read that so many times in the last 2-3 years. but thank you very much for refreshing my memory. i just wanted some feedback from someone who knows about employers. even though it is dismissed, why do employers still care? so far it hasnt happened to me yet (turned down for dismissed felony) but i am just preparing in case it does happen.

basically target offered my the job. i then take a drug test and they do a background check. i do not use drugs and my case is dismissed. what can i do if they do not hire me and tell me something in my background check showed up or something? can i sue them? i have no convictions now.

i pled no contest but that shouldnt matter as any plea of guilt or no contest is now set aside. i have no felony but it will still show up. im just wondering if employers view that as a conviction or the same as being clean because to me its the same as being clean.

well what should i tell them? it was personal use? because i really want that security job. all they are going to see is arrested/dismissed. it doesnt even show the conviction, i dont think. just the final disposition.

also the govt still hires CONVICTED FELONS. knowing im not a convicted felon, they should hire me too. not LE but state jobs yes, i know many people who have felonies who work for the govt. even caltrans had an employee who had like 2 felonies.

no but i will get a printout very soon.
target called me back and i think i got the job. they were waiting for the background check to clear and they called me to come in for the orientation. so i think i got the job! this means alot to me as it proves my record is clean.

Sounds like you were in the wrong place at the wrong time with some roommates or something that were using but you got pulled in because you lived there. Catch my drift.
