so i was thinking, since obama has made public statements saying he thinks its a waste of congress' time to litigate steroid users, and one of his campaign managers was juice, do you guys think all of us on meso, anonbb, t-nation, and every other bodybuilding board can join forces and create a petition to have steroids legalized or at least decriminalized?

This is a good idea. Not only should we petition President Obama, but we should also petition are local Congress members as well.

Since AAS users represent such a small percentage of the drug use that exists in this country, we really need to petition a broader cause.

Prohibition doesn't work. It's that simple. We have to reform drug laws. Not just steroid laws, and I'm not saying that AAS and Crack are the same. But if someone wants to smoke crack, that's their right, it doesn't affect me. If they burlarize my house, then arrest them for burglary, but not for crack.

You and I know people who use AAS. But everyone doesn't know someone like that. But there's someone on every street and dirt road in the USA that uses or has used something illegal. Marajuana, meth, pain killers you name it. Even Clinton smoked weed. Obama and W both used cocaine. Should they be feloins? Merely posessing cocaine is a felony.

We could get more people on board if we include all the drugs and push for a drug law reform. The National Coalition For Drug Law Reform.

You gotta lobby your state and federal legislatures and the President's Office as well.

agreed 100% oscar, the war on drugs has failed. instead of criminalizing the users and throwing them in prison, how bout we educate people as to the risks. take away all the bullshit propaganda they teach you in school health class, and teach the truth..what a concept. although there will be fierce opposition from MADD and other anti drug organizations, but if we encompass all drugs, im sure NORML would join us.

i think being such a small population might work to our benefit though. i mean, if every steroid user joins the petition, then compared to the national population, it will be aparent that steroid pose no real risk to public health.

Im down with both you guys and will support it 100% if you make a petition otherguy

Oscar, I agree with what your saying in that by classifying all drugs together, you would unite more people and therefor have a bigger following and support, however, by trying to change the law on ALL drugs, you would fail. Now yes, we are free and adults should be able to put in our bodies whatever we want, but we know that wont happen. Not when some of those things make people steal or kill to get more money. Not when it DOES effect others around us. Now, do you think AAS are in that same class? HELL NO! That is the thing that needs to be shown. Proven that it does NOT alter anyones lives nor health (if used correctly) and that it should not be looked at as such. Now, to make AAS COMPLETELY lega, would take decades, but to get it changed from a Sched III to maybe a II or even I would make a HUGE difference. Hell, just to be able to ONLY buy it but not sell it (unless you are a liscensed seller) would be huge. Not to mention that it would be great for us. Imagine companies competing to sell gear at lower and lower prices... now that would be NICE!

BigBench nailed it...I could see weed or any drug that someone can use, and then put away for the work week til the weekend...but how many functional crackheads are out there? Probably not too many. I am not saying that they shouldn't be allowed to do it but to make it legal is another story. Hell spraypaint is legal but to huff it is a crime. A lot of shit doesn't make sense in this country though.

While it makes lots of sense, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that anything regarding AS is going to take a back seat to other stuff. It's just not really a priority for anyone. Especially decriminalizing it. It's been too big of a demon in recent years to chance votes on "doing the right thing."

this is true, but what about getting states to decide on it? Im from NY, and pot is decriminalized there. you can have up to an oz and its a slap on the wriste ($50 fine) for first 3 offenses. Other states like CA have similar laws regarding pot. why not do the same for AS?

We're gonna get opposition either way. And as far as Madd goes, we should probably all join Madd, i don't really like drunk drivers either. I'm pretty sure more people die from drund drivers than they do from steroid use, or abuse!

You have some good points. I do believe that if drugs were legal and over the counter that they would be cheaper and safer to consume. And if people are stealing or killing to get drugs, then they should be arrested for stealing or killing, or even driving under the influence, but not merely for possessing drugs.

Decriminalization would be great for everyone! We spend tens of billions of dollars a year to fight the war on drugs, and it's still almost a trillion dollar a year business. Trillion dollars that's untaxed! It creates jobs when the drugs are legalized and legally manufactured. We get safer gear and we don't have to go to jail. By the way, for those guys that are in jail for steroids and other non violent drug offenses, it costs 15 to 20 thousand dollars per year to keep them incarcarated when they aren't even (most likely) a threat to society. It's a homerun!

It's pretty discouraging that I can't even sell this idea to proffessed users of controlled substances. This idea must suck. [)]

I would concede that crack smokers make up a very small percentage of the functional drug users in the American Workforce. I would, however, guess that cocain and meth users make up a big percentage of functional drug users in the workforce.

Also, most crack users use crack because they can't afford cocaine. If cocaine were legal and readily available you would probably see a big drop in the overall usage of crack. Meth as well, to a lesser extent.

Lastly, I'm not asking that we decriminalize stealing or murder, those should still be crimes. I'm just asking that you, the individual, have the right to decide what you can and cannot put in your own body.

agreed, the witch hunt is still only beginning. I even saw an anti-steroid commercial on tv before the superbowl. i literally yelled out "oh fuck you!" to the tv lol

i still think though if everyone banded together, we might have a fighting chance. If it doesnt get decriminalized, at least it will be known how many people support steroids.

your right, it didnt become a big deal until it turned up in baseball. God forbid 50, 60, 70 homeruns are hit in a season.

I think our society just needs to deal with the fact that steroids are never going to go away, and the new "professional" will be juiced while the amatuer is natural.
