do weight gain calorie powders actualy work or are they one of the many supplement rip offs I have seen whey protien powder dose whey work as good as animal protien??? has anyone gained weight on weight gain powder???

I have taken nothing but Muscle Milk for the past 8 months. About 3-4 shakes a day and have gained 30 lbs of muscle. I am still under 10% bf. No roids either.

your best source of protein is from whole foods, but shakes are a great way to supplement protein intake. I mean who really wants to cook 6 to 8 meals a day? I eat 3 whole food meals and 3 - 4 shakes a day. Now the 2000 calorie per serving "weight gainers" I stay away from. Just pick a quality whey, that will do the trick

Optimum Nutrition's Serious Mass is one of the best. It has 1250(?) calories per serving, around 250g carbs, around 50g of protein, and 20g of sugar. Most of them will be loaded with sugar, but 20g is not much at all for 1250 cals. This has helped me get from 200-205 to 225 in 4 weeks. I have been using 2-3 servings per day, and it tastes good. I just put some ice in a blender, put water in until the ice is just covered, put the powder in and there you go. Be forewarned, however, you will get some nasty!! farts during the first few days of using this.

I can't give you a precise number, but far more muscle than fat. Do a search for my posts and recently I put up before and after pics. You will definitely put on some fat when you gain weight, but as long as you eat a lot of good foods and maybe even a small amount of cardio then you can minimize this.
