Anyone use krill oil?

Supposedly a better omega balance than fish oil? I was curious as to it's effectiveness for cholesterol and joint health.

If anyone knows anywhere that sources prescription fish oil help a bro out! Tried a search on reliablerx and nada. Seems a bitch to find
 
I tried Krill, what makes it special is astaxanthin. Takes a lot more krill to get the oil than fish, so more expensive mg per mg. Adds up when taking 2-3 grams a day.

Barlean’s fresh catch is a good fish oil, tested for contamination, not too expensive. I just get that then buy astaxanthin separately and I can adjust the dose of either independently.

I used kirkland fish oil. It was the top pick from Consumer Lab. There really is no reason to take Krill Oil above Fish Oil, I'll elaborate below

"Krill Oil - be aware that the term "krill oil" in the name of a product does not necessarily mean it is all krill oil. For example, in the past we found that if you looked carefully at the label of one krill oil product, the "other ingredients" section showed "fish oil" first on the list. "
^^ just something to watch out for when shopping for Krill Oil

Here is their article, you have to be a member to see the testing results, but the article is great nonetheless. It goes into the data and all studies, showing really no reason to take Krill Oil above Fish Oil.

If you don't subscribe to ConsumerLab you should, it pays for itself in that you ensure you are buying quality supplements! I absolutely love ConsumeLab. Their service in unmatched, I can't say enough good things about their site!

Viva naturals krill oil

In the ConsumerLab testing, they found Viva Naturals Antarctic Krill Oil to only contain 63.3% of its listed 1.6 mg of astaxanthin. It did contain the claimed amount of DHA/EPA though. However, another lot on the site was listed as containing 4.6 mcg of Astaxanthin, suggesting issues with quality control. It also had 4.9 ppm total Arsenic (so, one would consume 8.3 to 16.6 mcg of arsenic per day based off the serving suggestions), however it was found to have less than 0.08 ppm inorganic arsenic, which might be comforting to some, but based off these things I would totally avoid Viva Naturals Krill Oil.

Member's Mark (Sam's Club) Extra Strength Krill Oil was approved and the best pick for Krill Oil. Schiff MegaRed and CVS Health Extra Strength 100% Pure Omega-3 Krill Oil were also testing in 2018 and approved, but were more expensive than the Sam's Club brand.

Freshfield Vegan Omega-3 DHA+DPA had less than half of its claimed omega-3s. Definitely don't take that one.

Doctors Foster + Smith Premium Plus Omega-3 for dogs contained 51% of listed EPA and 44.2% of listed DHA. Get your doggy "Pet Honesty Wild Caught Omega-3 Fish Oil" instead.

IMO, just take fish oil, it is cheaper and provides the same benefit. Although, some are questioning whether there is even any benefit after finding having higher HDL cholesterol to not really have any actual impact on overall mortality or cardiovascular incidents--perhaps fish oil is just the biggest wellness industry scheme ever? I still take it though, since we are on gear and it lowers your HDL, I would just rather have my HDL be where it should be. Plus Kirkland Fish Oil is cheap as fuck. I do not think Krill Oil is worth it at all.

I take the following supps:
- 2g Fish Oil
- 8mg of astaxanthin
- 2000 IU of vitamin D3
- 100mcg of K2 (MK-7) (this is why everyone should take vitamin K2, ESPECIALLY STEROID USERS--hint: prevent atherosclerosis)
- 5g of Taurine split 3g/2g AM/PM (when on nandrolone) daily

For lifting (and the brain / cognition too!) I take 1g of creatine HCL daily (other kinds make me super fucking gassy, it is insane)

Pre-workout (and/or pre-sex) I just take 7g of L-Citrulline Malate, 1g of L-arginine, and 60 mg of pycnogenol, which can significantly increase Nitric Oxide and the arginine/pycnogenol combination has been found to be like a natural viagra!!! No pre-made pre-workout supps and stimulants at all, don't need 'em, don't like 'em, and they're good for you
^^ some studies concluded that oral L-citrulline is more effective in making L-arginine available to the cell than taking oral L-arginine!

Post workout whey protein isolate and sometimes essential amino acids from BulkSupplements

200mg of l-theanine, 3g of glycine, 25mg of DHEA, and 300 mcg of melatonin before bed.

Oh and DO NOTBUY ZEROWATER water filters!!! They add a TON of microplastics to the water, which you then drink. I repeat: DON'T FUCKING BUY ZEROWATER filters!!!

Yohimbe is a crazy aphrodisiac.
Never heard of phenogenol? Is it a vitamin?

Does any of these things listed cause any rebound effect if you stop?

Pycnogenol is actually a pine bark resin extract!

Yohimbe I avoid as I just don't like stimulants, it gives me bad anxiety too.

I have not seen or heard if any issues with stopping the supplements I mentioned and subsequent ED like youcan have with actual pharma meds. I don'thave ED at all, I just take the supps as an enhancement on occasion and it works quite well! Goes from hard as a rock to like cement lol :D

Like I said, I love the service, been a member for 3 years now. Their email newsletter is the only one I actually look forward to and read!

I grabbed most if what you had in regards to the pyconegol and i arginine, fish oil, L cittruline DL malate. How long does the natural viagre effect take? Does it build in system? Does it last all day? I got NOW brand as they are pretty consistant.

The citrulline malate is like within 60 minutes and lasts about 2 hours in my experience. The pycnogenol and L-arginine build up over the course of about 4-6 weeks per the studies I have seen, gives solid benefits to workout pumps too in my experience :)
 
Unpopular opinion but hear me out. When you take omegas in large doses you cause lipid peroxidation. When you put a cold water fish oil inside of a warm bodied human, Instant oxidation happens. It helps in the short term but you’re asking for problems later down the line. You’d be better off taking a good source of vitamin e like wheat germ oil or sunflower oil. The vitamin e will actually detox the body of those oxidized fats as it is an antioxidant.
