KERRY COSPONSORED BILL BANNING GUN HE WAVES

Was Dem presidential hopeful John Kerry seen this weekend waving a gun which would have been banned if legislation he co-sponsored became law?

Kerry co-sponsored S. 1431 last year (The Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003) which would have banned a "semiautomatic shotgun that has a pistol grip.

Opponents of the bill successfully argued how nearly all guns have "pistol grips," inluding millions of Browning Auto-5 shotguns produced since 1903.

Photos show Kerry's hand resting on the "pistol grip," as loosely defined in the bill. [Section SEC. 2; (H) (ii) and (b)(42): "The term 'pistol grip' means a grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip."]

Kerry was presented with the semiautomatic shotgun during a Labor Day stop in Racine, West Virginia.

"I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me," Kerry told a cheering crowd as he held up the device.

But Kerry's gun bill would have also banned any "gift" transaction!

[It is not clear if Kerry completed the required paperwork (Form 4473) before he claimed the gun.]

Not suprising in the least bro. Reminded me of that pic of Saddam Hussein with the top hat on shooting into the air in the 80's

They probably do share quite a few political beliefs in commons. :D

Geez, lighten up bro. Thats what the :D was for, as a joke.

Though maybe if I looked at Saddams record a little more closely...

Not only that, but John Kerry is the only man I know who uses a double barrell 12-gauge to go deer hunting!!! LOL.

John Kerry on Hunting

"I go out with my trusty 12-gauge double-barrel, crawl around on my stomach. I track and move and decoy and play games and try to outsmart them. You know, you kind of play the wind. That's hunting," said Kerry. (Craig Gilbert, "Bringing candidate to life," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 7/5/04)

Hmmm a double barreld 12 gauge shotgun to kill a deer. never thought about tryin that... I wonder if he uses side by side or over and under?

Doesn't really matter as all he will do is piss the deer off!!

Unless he is using sluggs... Which is actually legal for Deer hunting ..and it some states it is actually the law.. In densly populated states it is illegal to use anything other than Shotguns, Muzzleloaders or handguns to hunt deer ... ;)

there are many areas where you have to hunt deer with a shotgun as the slug won't travel much more than 150 yards or so.

i've stared at that pic for a minute and i still can't see how that normal long rifle stock could possibly be defined as a pistol grip. unless they call anything you can hold on to a pistol grip. which is blatantly moronic.

Where I hunt deer, you have to use a shotgun. I use the exact gun Kerry is pictured holding.

The fact that the stock would be classified as a pistol grip is one reason the bill never passed.

Your right though, it was moronic.

Where I live, shotguns cannot be used except in certain parts of the state.

I was not saying that you cannot use a shotgun, but in my area, it is highly unusual.
