Pretty disappointing that MK hasn't responded since yesterday. I realize we all have lives outside of here that are much more important, but with something as "serious" as this, I'd be back on here defending myself by now, even if it was to say that I'll too busy to address this until _______.
Anyways, for what it's worth, from everything I have seen/read from both sides, COMBINED WITH my years here watching similar situations play out, it looks to me like MK has been caught soliciting free gear from sources for future positive reviews, a practice absolutely frowned upon by our community here.
It is a form of scamming - by a member, towards a source - but scamming nonetheless. You are also scamming our members by selling good reviews, with free gear as the payment being exchanged.
Ultimately, it is a self-serving act that has potential negative effects on our community. Another way to describe it is GREED. At least that is what MK himself referred to it as last year in a source thread regarding scamming a source.
AAVANG (Lab tested source)
I think the part that I find maybe most repulsive (this is just my opinion) is that it sounds like (assuming the source is telling the truth and I have seen no reason to believe otherwise) MK is giving the free gear to his buddies for something in return. Money? Other gear? Payment for a previous debt? Cracker Barrel gift cards? Doesn't matter. The fact that a member would solicit freebies in exchange for a review is bad enough. The fact that they would be benefitting from the freebies by distributing them is even worse. And trust me, if this is true, no member here would just give hundreds of dollars in gear out unless something was being received in return. Something. Somehow.
MK, you need to set this straight if it isn't true, but it doesn't smell right, man. You look real damned guilty.
