MP's Meet Training Log 3rd Edition

5/2
paused bench warm up 5x185, 3x235, 1x285 working sets 10x3 335
close grip bench 20x185

Week 4 of Candito bench program has only two benching days and this was the first. Prior to beginning the program I knew this would be the first real tough day and it was. Started out pausing all reps in the triples but by the fourth set that was down to the first two, by set 6 the first rep only.

Near miss on the very last rep of the 10th triple as the bar moved forward a bit in my hand, which is no good when you use false grip, managed to lock it out. I videod the 5th and the last set and will try to post them both tomorrow.

The program also called for a 20 rep max on close grips following the triples. Debated between using 185 and 195. May have been good at 190 wouldn't have been at 195. I was out of wind on the last couple of reps which is sad to say but I'm not used to doing maxes on many more than 5 reps.

I will take today's session. Bicep tendon didn't feel too bad on any of the triples and I managed to get all 30 reps even if some weren't pretty or paused.

I'm definitely in for this. I like seeing what people the same weight class I'll be competing in can do. I've seen lots of your post and know I'll learn a lot

Welcome brother. I know you are already damn strong and have a lot of years before you will hit your peak. I see you putting up elite numbers and then some in the not too distant future.

I appreciate it brother and that's the plan for sure. I still have a lot of learning to do though. I found that out at my mock meet a couple weeks back. Logs like these help a lot for guys like me trying to learn.

Great bench session MP , 10 sets at 335 x3 is impressive.
Had to double take when i saw hanging leg raises, a power lifter that works abs[emoji15]

Thanks Mr. B. I still do some core work. Now if you ever see any direct calf work listed please pick up the nearest dumbbell and smack me in the head with it.

5/5

squats 6 sets topping out at 365
leg curls 3x10 100
GHR's 15, 14

Got both knees injected last week and they felt good enough to do some light squatting. Just trying to get enough squat work in to support my deadlift.

5/6
paused bench 3x3 350, 3x2 350
incline bench 20x185
pull throughs 3x12 140

I was supposed to get a minimum of 5 triples at 350 but that wasn't going to happen. Switched to doubles after the third set. Right wrist didn't feel good on the third double so I stopped there.

How long have your knees been this bad? I dont recall you me tioning it in your last log, but i am getting older and Alzheimer's might be setting in lol!!!!!
Been meaning to say how envious i am of your home setup. I have to drive 1 hr and 15-30 min depending on traffic to get to my gym and i been doing it for over 20 years. Gotta feed the addiction[emoji4]

Thanks Mr B. knees have been bad for a while. Right one will have to be replaced at some point but they don't impact my push/pull numbers. That adds a lot of extra time to your training having to go that far. Definitely shows dedication my friend.
